EDMONTON, Ky. (WBKO) -According to America’s Health Rankings, Kentucky is ranked in the bottom five states where households are unable to provide adequate food for one or more household members due to lack of resources.
There was a large turn out from the community at Monday’s city council meeting in Edmonton.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the beginning stages of planning for a potential grocery store.
According to Mayor Doug Smith the community has been in the need of a local grocery store for a few months now.
“The other grocery store we had left, so we’re sort of in a food desert right now,” remarks Smith. “So, I think tonight our people come out and show Houchens that we want and deserve a good grocery store.”
