The male friend of the gang rape victim in Coimbatore was brutally attacked by the victims using a sickle, leaving him unconscious for hours, according to local media reports. The 25-year-old man, who reportedly runs an automobile shop in the city, suffered a deep gash to his skull and is currently admitted to a hospital.

According to reports, the 21-year-old victim, who was in her first year of postgraduation at a private college in the city, was close friends with the youth. On November 2, the day the incident happened, the duo had gone out together as it was a holiday. They arrived at the deserted area behind the Coimbatore Airport.
