While most Coloradans voting in this fall’s election have already either voted by mail or dropped off absentee ballots, Nov. 4 is still Election Day .

There could be some confusion, especially in the midst of the federal government shutdown, about whether government offices will be open. Election Day is a civic holiday in many states. And while Election Day is not a federal holiday where state government offices close down, answers about whether federal offices are open can vary based on whether the shutdown is still in effect.
