Mother Nature once again intervened in the Coalfields Cup competition with a vast majority of district cricket matches washed out at the weekend.

Following late storms on Friday, further showers the next morning certainly put a dampener on things.

While parts of the Cessnock LGA were peppered with hail stones that night, everything remained calm at Howe Park in Singleton.

And, T20 defending premiers PCH/Glendon got their campaign off on the right foot with a hard-fought 11-run win over Greta-Branxton.

Batting first, the Gleights managed a modest 9/112 from their 20 overs, with Kyle Bailey leading the way with a well-made 37.

Skipper Jackson Cox was next best with 27.

Meanwhile, Connor Thomson starred with the white ball for Greta-Branxton with 5-15 off his four overs.
