LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Dashcam video released by Los Angeles police Monday shows a deadly crash involving a Los Angeles police cruiser and a skateboarder in Highland Park.
Gerardo "Jerry" Estrada, a 30-year-old graduate of Santa Monica College, was going home after leaving work when he was struck and killed.
The crash happened Sept. 19 around 7:15 p.m. as officers were on their way to help establish a perimeter for a suspect wanted on a felony warrant, LAPD Capt. Mike Bland said.
The officers were driving northbound on Figueroa Street with emergency sirens and lights on when they crashed into Estrada, who was on a skateboard going southbound in the center median, Bland said.
