Top-order batter Jemimah Rodrigues has taken up Sunil Gavaskar on his promise for a jam session in light of India’s win in the 2025 Women’s World Cup, with a 52-run win over South Africa in the final at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. In a video posted on her Instagram, Rodrigues said she was ‘ready with my guitar’ and hoped that the former India legend was ‘ready with your mic’.

Rodrigues was one of the champions of India’s historic triumph. She put up a Player of the Match performance in the semi-final against defending champions Australia, scoring 127*, the highest-ever for India in a record-breaking chase. On the following day, Gavaskar said that if India were to lift the cup, he’d love to sing along while Rodrigues plays her guitar, just like they did impromptu at a BCCI awards
