Third-seeded Old Bridge rallied from a two-goal deficit to defeat 14th-seeded Columbia 3-2 in the first round of the North Jersey, Group 4 Tournament in Matawan.
Old Bridge (17-4) battled back down 2-0, getting a goal from Avery Baile in the second quarter to cut the deficit to 2-1 at halftime. Adrienne Cabrera assisted on Baile’s goal.
Laila Vaughan scored twice in the second half, including the go-ahead goal in the fourth quarter, to complete the comeback for Old Bridge. Kyra Vella assisted on Vaughan’s fourth-quarter goal.
Columbia (10-10-1) jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first quarter with goals from Didi Browne and Talia Gewirtz. Gewirtz also assisted on Browne’s goal.
Old Bridge goalie Kaelyn Ritz made two saves to earn the win.
