NEW CUMBERLAND — City officials are continuing their efforts to address what they consider to be eyesore properties.

During Monday’s meeting of New Cumberland Council, City Solicitor Kevin Pearl provided an update on one property, located on Commerce Street, being eyed for demolition by the city, but noted there remain some obstacles in the way.

“We’ve done the work necessary to see who needs notified,” Pearl said, referring to the process of contacting any property owners, heirs or others who might have an interest in the property.

Under city code, officials begin an investigation of a property following receipt of a complaint. If violations are found, notification is sent to the owner listing those violations, with a hearing scheduled.
