The wife of detained Scot Jagtar Singh Johal says she is desperate to get her husband back to "start their married lives" after spending eight years in an Indian jail . ‌

Gurpreet Kaur, who has rarely spoken out in recent years, said she is haunted by a photograph of her and her husband, from Dumbarton, dancing at their wedding just days before he was arrested on November 4, 2017. ‌

“It is impossible to describe the pain of being separated from Jagtar for so long,” she said. ‌

“We were just beginning our life together, full of hope and love. When I look at the picture of us dancing, so happy, with the rings on our fingers symbolising our vows to each other, it makes me unbearably sad."
