Voters across New Jersey are waking up to a cool and comfortable Election Day Tuesday as polls open at 6 a.m. for statewide and local races, including several tight contests in Essex and Hudson counties.

Good morning, New Jersey, and don’t forget to vote!

It’s a crisp 49 degrees at 4:30 a.m. at Market and Halsey streets in downtown Newark.

Light breezes are adding a slight chill, so a jacket will come in handy for early voters heading to the polls or commuters waiting at the bus stop.

According to the National Weather Service, today will be partly to mostly cloudy with a 40% chance of rain developing after 1 p.m.

High temperatures will reach around 60 degrees, making it a pleasant day overall.
