The Food Depot in Belair-Edison Crossing shopping center will close Jan. 31, according to a notice posted on Maryland’s Work Adjustment and Retraining Notification log.

The discount grocery store at 2401 Belair Road said 80 employees would be affected by the closure, according to the WARN notice, which is required by law when companies plan mass layoffs or plant closings. The notice was filed Oct. 30 by Red Run Corporation T/A Food Depot.

Food Depot has another location in Baltimore on Frederick Avenue at Westside Shopping Center.

Food Depot, a Baltimore-based company , was founded as B. Green in 1915 by Benjamin Green. The Belair Food Depot opened 1996, followed by the Frederick Avenue location in 2008. The company is known for its lower prices and on-site services like its butcher
