Mandeville sophomore swimmer Avery Daigle didn’t really know what she was getting into at first.
When USA Swimming reached out to inform Daigle that she was selected for the National Select Camp, she had to do her research.
“I didn’t really know what the camp was until they reached out,” Daigle said. “When I looked into it, I thought it was really cool because that wasn’t even on my radar. I had never heard of it. I was really excited when I was selected.”
To qualify, Daigle had to post a top-3 time in an Olympic event for swimmers ages 14-15. Her time of 26.12 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle punched her ticket to the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Training facility in Colorado Springs, Colo., in late October.
