Our robot overlords are ready to take over dining. The Des Moines metro is about to join the conveyor belt sushi restaurant trend. Kura Revolving Sushi Bar plans to open at Jordan Creek Town Center in late 2026 or early 2027, according to a spokesperson for the mall in West Des Moines.
The restaurant specializes in small Japanese dishes that drift by the table on a conveyor belt. Customers can pick which items they want to eat, with prices determined by the plate. Diners can also order custom dishes such as softshell crab tempura or kitsune udon via a tablet, and those dishes also arrive on a separate conveyor belt.
Each plate is tracked for freshness using Kura’s patented Mr. Fresh ventilated sushi lid system.
Bonus: Kura also offers a robot that delivers drinks and condiments. M
