JASPER COUNTY, Miss. (WDAM) - The search for three monkeys that escaped from a crash on Interstate 59 started on Tuesday, Oct.28.
Sunday, Nov. 2, one of the monkeys was spotted by a teenager in his front yard.
Jessica Bond, the teen’s mother, said she heard shuffling in the bushes near her house on Saturday night, but nothing could’ve prepared her for what was waiting in her front yard the next morning: A rhesus monkey.
Bond said events that followed were necessary to protect her family
Bond said her family’s mornings are usually pretty quiet.
The family knew something was strange when they woke up to barking.
“When I woke up, I heard the dogs barking,” said Bond’s 16-year-old son, Jarmarcus Turnage. “They don’t usually bark at nothing, unless there’s something outside.
