ROBERTSDALE, Ala. (WKRG) -- The city of Robertsdale makes history with its new Mayor. Ruthie Campbell was sworn in as the Hub City’s first female mayor.

She joins an almost completely new city council as well. Campbell says she wants the people who live here and work here to be proud of Robertsdale and says she’s eager to get to work.

"I'm looking forward to each and every day going into office to where I have been a council member for 13 years. And at this point, being at the next level and doing new things, things that I would love to do and that the council and I together will accomplish so much," said Campbell.

Campbell and another challenger unseated longtime mayor Charles Murphy in the general election. She won a close runoff in September to get the top spot. Only one incumbent on
