Industrial, commercial and institutional properties in Norfolk County will be on their own to fund collection of their recyclable material starting in January.

A transition of Ontario’s recycling system began in 2023, shifting the financial and operational responsibility for the Blue Box program from municipalities to the companies that produce the products and packaging.

But the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks announced last month that under the new provincial framework, industrial, commercial and institutional properties will no longer receive curbside recycling collection as part of the transition.
