Killian Phillips reckons his career was going nowhere until he was rescued by St Mirren. ‌

The all-action midfielder admitted he was considering a return home to the League of Ireland after a tough loan spell at Aberdeen. ‌

But in August 2024 – and while still under contract at English Premier League Crystal Palace – Buddies boss Stephen Robinson brought him to Paisley. ‌

And an incredible turnaround was complete when he made his debut for the Republic of Ireland against Senegal in June.

Now he is looking forward to facing Celtic in the final of the Premier Sports Cup after a stunning 4-1 victory over Motherwell at Hampden on Saturday night.

Phillips has lifted the lid on his state of mind a little over a year ago as he pondered his next move. ‌
