PEORIA, Ill. – 70 local veterans and their guardians are headed to the nation’s capital Tuesday morning with the Greater Peoria Honor Flight’s fifth trip of the year.

Organizer Luke Rosenbaum tells WMBD’s “Greg and Dan” the government shutdown shouldn’t have too much of an impact on their trip to D.C.

“There may be a couple little hiccups in the schedule. There may be a couple locations we may not be able to go to, but for the most part, it will pretty much be business as usual,” Rosenbaum said.

The community is asked to show up for the veterans Tuesday night when they return to Peoria International Airport.

Shuttles will begin at 8:00 p.m. from the CEFCU near PIA.

The Honor Flight is expected to arrive around 9:30.
