PINE BELT, Miss. (WDAM) - President Donald Trump’s administration announced Monday that it will partially fund the supplemental nutrition assistance program known more familiarly as SNAP.

The action comes after two federal judges ruled last week that the food aid program must be kept running through the government shutdown.

The judges said the United States Department of Agriculture must use money from an agriculture department contingency fund to send out partial payments.

The Trump administration said the $5.25 billion contingency fund would be fully depleted by keeping the SNAP program running through November.

However, with no additional funding on the horizon to make up the difference, it was unclear how much money each SNAP recipient would get.
