President Donald Trump’s threat that the U.S. could storm into Nigeria “guns-a-blazing” to defend persecuted Christians was reportedly triggered after he watched a Fox News segment on the crisis.

Trump’s Truth Social post on Friday about the situation was sparked by a story on Fox News about Christians being targeted by Islamist groups, two sources told CNN late Monday.

The president was “immediately” angered, and within an hour of landing in Florida, he had posted: “Christianity is facing an existential threat in Nigeria. Thousands of Christians are being killed. Radical Islamists are responsible for this mass slaughter
