Robert Pattinson couldn't think straight while making Dune: Part Three because he was so hot filming in the desert. The Batman actor confirmed his role as the villain in Denis Villeneuve's third sci-fi epic in an interview with IndieWire when he compared his anxiety levels on his indie romantic drama Die My Love and the upcoming blockbuster. He explained that he didn't have enough brain space to feel anxious about filming Dune because he was so hot in the desert. "When I was doing Dune, it was so hot in the desert that I just couldn't question anything," he recalled. "And it was so relaxing, like my brain actually wasn't operating, I did not have a single functioning brain cell." He added, "I actually found it relaxing. Now I'm taking that into other roles." It was reported earlier this year that Pattinson would be playing the villain Scytale alongside Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Florence Pugh, Rebecca Ferguson, and Josh Brolin, among others. Dune: Part Three, which is based on Frank Herbert's book Dune Messiah, is set 12 years after the events of Dune: Part Two. Chalamet's Paul Atreides is now the Emperor, and Scytale leads a conspiracy against him, with a plan to dethrone him. Cameras started rolling in the summer in Budapest, Hungary, before the cast returned to the Abu Dhabi desert. While production is still ongoing, Pattinson indicated in his interview that he has already finished filming his scenes, as he is already shooting his upcoming heist film Here Comes the Flood in New York with Denzel Washington and Daisy Edgar-Jones. Dune: Part Three is set to open in cinemas in December 2026, while Pattinson's new film, Die My Love, will be released on Friday.
