Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes is traveling to Washington, D.C., to attend the oral argument in a pivotal U.S. Supreme Court case testing whether President Donald Trump has the power to impose sweeping tariffs.
"The damage is not theoretical," Mayes said, blaming tariffs for driving up grocery prices for Arizonans. "It is happening in real time and that is why we are fighting these tariffs so hard. ... If a president is allowed to illegally implement tariffs on a whim, without authorization from our elected representatives, we do not have free market capitalism anymore. We have a mafia state."
