ORANGE CITY, Iowa (KTIV) - Officers have made an arrest after investigating the cause of a house fire.

On Sunday, Nov. 2, at 1:32 p.m., first responders were called to reports of a house fire in Orange City.

Upon their arrival, the Orange City Police Department and firefighters from both the Orange City Fire Department and the Altoona Fire Department found flames within the home.

Authorities say, upon first observations, the fire may have been “suspicious in nature.”

After a joint investigation by both officers and firefighters, the cause was determined to be from a 12-year-old boy who had been playing with fire and rubbing alcohol in a bedroom of the home, according to the Orange City Police Department.
