Yesterday, the National Baseball Hall of Fame announced the eight former players who would appear on the newest Contemporary Baseball Era Committee ballot. A successor to the old Veterans Committee, these former stars from 1980 onward made it past the screening and will be discussed by 16 committee members at the Winter Meetings in December. If any of the players receive at least 12 votes—75 percent, just like on the BBWAA ballot—then they will be enshrined in Cooperstown next July, alongside any BBWAA inductees.
