PISCATAWAY – Kyle Monangai might’ve surprised a lot of people with his performance in his first NFL start with the Chicago Bears.
But nobody who watched him during his time in a Rutgers football uniform was surprised.
Including head coach Greg Schiano.
“I was not shocked one bit,” Schiano said.
Schiano believed this is who Monangai could be at the next level.
Monangai, a seventh-round draft pick by the Bears, had 26 carries for 176 yards (6.8 yards per attempt) in the Bears 47-42 win over the Bengals on Nov. 2.
The 5-foot-8, 207 Monangai, a Don Bosco Prep product, has shown the same level of toughness and physicality that he displayed while becoming one of the most prolific running backs in the Scarlet Knights ’ history.
