JACKSONVILLE, Texas — A news conference was held in Jacksonville Tuesday, where police revealed new details about a shooting that injured an officer and a K-9 unit.

That press conference was held at the Jacksonville City Council chambers. Chief Steven Markasky said at approximately 4:40 p.m. Sunday, a officer was patrolling the 1100 block of Churchill Street when she observed Bobby Michael Dennis , 64, outside a residence.

Dennis had two outstanding warrants for obstruction and retaliation, Markasky said, and had been wanted since early October by law enforcement agencies. When the officer made contact, Dennis moved behind the residence. As the officer called out to him, Dennis emerged with an AR-15 style rifle and opened fire.
