BARTONVILLE, Ill. – An Illinois State Police squad car was struck in Peoria County on Monday night.
ISP says the car was sideswiped by a black Ford Escape just before 7:30 P.M. on US Route 24 near Mendenhall Road.
At the time of the crash, the squad car had its emergency lights activated for a traffic stop. There were no injuries to the trooper as he was outside the vehicle.
The squad car suffered minor damage to a side mirror.
Police say the Ford Escape fled the scene, and an investigation continues.
ISP says there have been 13 Mover Over Law-related crashes this year. The law requires motorists to move over when approaching an emergency vehicle with its lights on.
