EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — While the mayoral race in New York City may be dominating national headlines, some local cities will also be selecting their next mayors on Tuesday.

Fall River and Taunton are the most noteworthy among them, but key races are also being decided in New Bedford, Attleboro, and two cities in Rhode Island.

The polls close at 8 p.m.

Rhode Island

In Providence, Democratic voters on the East Side are choosing who will advance past the primary in the special election for the Ward 2 seat on the City Council.

The seat was vacated by Helen Anthony, who stepped down to focus on her health after she was hit and seriously injured by an ATV in California two summers ago.
