It’s time for predictions.

The CIF Southern Section football playoffs begin this week with a full slate on Friday.

Who is going to survive and advance over the next few weeks? We will give it a shot for all 14 playoff divisions, including how San Gabriel Valley teams will fare.

DIVISION 1

Top seeds : 1. St. John Bosco (9-1), 2. Corona Centennial (9-1), 3. Mater Dei (7-2), 4. Sierra Canyon (10-0)

Quick look : There is probably more parity between the top eight teams than there has been in more than a decade. Mater Dei regained its magic by beating St. John Bosco in Week 10. Those are still the two favorites, though undefeated Sierra Canyon might have a say. The Cavaliers have a dynamite defense. Centennial beat Mater Dei this season, but don’t expect it to happen again
