The New Orleans Saints have officially pulled the plug on the disappointing Trevor Penning experiment.
Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Saints have traded Trevor Penning to the Los Angeles Chargers in exchange for a 2027 sixth-round draft pick. The move came hours after New Orleans traded star wide receiver Rashid Shaheed to the Seattle Seahawks for fourth and fifth-round draft picks.
The Saints drafted Penning in the first round (19th overall) in 2022, the second of their day-one picks that year (they also drafted Chris Olave with the No. 11 pick). Penning is a pending free agent, as New Orleans didn’t pick up his fifth-year option.
