MUNCIE, Ind. — The Delaware County prosecutor will not file charges against two Muncie police officers after they shot and killed a 35-year-old man on Aug. 3.
Jesse Robinson was allegedly shooting a gun from his back porch, hitting several neighboring homes. Prosecutor Eric Hoffman says Robinson fired at least 28 shots starting around 6:30 p.m.
This was near Cooley Park and Splash Pad, near the intersection of East 23rd Street and South Mock Avenue in Muncie.
The prosecutor reviewed body camera footage, which seemed to show officers repeatedly trying to de-escalate the situation, including saying over a loud speakers:
Instead of coming, police say Robinson started a fire with gasoline and ran a chainsaw. Still, officers continued to try to call Robinson's cellphone and get him to negot
