NEW BRITAIN, Conn. — One of the suspects accused in the death of 11-year-old Jacqueline "Mimi" Torres-Garcia appeared in New Britain Superior Court today, facing new charges in the case.

Jonatan Nanita, the former boyfriend of Torres-Garcia’s mother, is accused of disposing of the bin that held the young girl's remains behind an abandoned property in New Britain.

Nanita was initially charged with murder with special circumstances, conspiracy to commit murder with special circumstances, risk of injury and cruelty to a child. On Tuesday, he was charged with tampering with physical evidence and violation of legal requirements regarding the disposition of a body.
