WASHINGTON COUNTY Ore. (KPTV) - The Washington County Board of Commissioners declared a pair of states of emergency Tuesday, in response to federal action towards food benefits and immigration enforcement.
The county says the declarations will remain in effect through the end of the year, and enable officials to take the following actions:
Enter into mutual aid agreements with other government entities to ensure basic needs are met.
Redirect county funds for emergency use.
Take immediate actions necessary to protect life and property.
The county says the declarations give them the “flexibility to respond rapidly as situations change and needs emerge.”
The board also authorized expenditures of $250,000 to help bolster local food resources, as well as $200,000 towards supporting immi
