BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) - Local EMS providers have asked for help to address funding and equipment issues.
Providers with Coal City Volunteer Fire Department & EMS said equipment limitations have impacted their ability to provide coverage throughout the county. Chief Zach Honaker requested assistance from local representatives to add a new vehicle to the department's fleet. He said the addition will allow department members to take on emergency calls even while providing transport for non-emergent situations. "With no direct funding from state or county level, sometimes it's difficult to provide 9-1-1 coverage in Raleigh County when your truck is tied up on other calls such as private transports [and] dialysis," he said.
