MONROE, La. (KNOE) - Susan B. Anthony campaigned for women’s right to vote - the only recorded time she broke the law was on Nov. 5, 1872, when she cast her vote in the presidential election.
Anthony was arrested, but refused to pay the $100 fine.
She co-introduced an amendment to Congress in 1876 giving women the right to vote, but died 14 years before it passed.
Women have decorated Anthony’s gravestone with “I Voted” stickers in tribute.
