In Abbeville, the mayor faced multiple hearings before council. This comes after code of conduct complaints were filed against him.

During the first hearing at City Hall, a resident claimed the mayor falsified a code enforcement complaint on a councilman's business. The council voted that there was enough evidence of improper use of office and resources.

During the second hearing, the complaint came from Abbeville Police Chief Nicholas Moore who says the mayor filed complaints against local businesses that compete with businesses in which he has a financial stake. The chief also claims officers are routinely asked to target residents and businesses on behalf of the mayor.
