In a developing story, the Kohima Police has arrested one person in connection with the alleged murder of a 22-year-old woman athlete whose body was found last month.

The body of the young woman was discovered with multiple wounds near the Old Ministers’ Hill Colony, Kohima on October 25.

Police confirmed the arrest of a male suspect, though further details are awaited.

The murder had triggered widespread condemnation from civil societies and various organisations, leading to candlelight vigils in various towns.

The deceased, who hailed from Jakhama Village in Kohima District, was residing at Old Ministers' Hill colony prior to her death.

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed to investigate the case.
