AUBURN — For the first time ever, Auburn football will square off with Notre Dame in 2027 as the front end of a home-and-home with the Fighting Irish , the program announced Wednesday, Nov. 5
Two of the winningest programs in the sport's history will play Sept. 25, 2027, in South Bend, Indiana, before returning to Jordan-Hare Stadium for an Oct. 28, 2028, matchup.
The Fighting Irish are one of 42 FBS programs Auburn has never faced, a list which includes seven Power 4 teams. Through 2030, Auburn is scheduled to face only one other first-time opponent when it hosts Middle Tennessee in 2027.
Notre Dame's addition amplifies a presumed gauntlet for Auburn under the SEC's new scheduling model. The Tigers are hosting Alabama
