(NewsNation) — Two men from New Jersey were arrested in connection with the alleged terror plot in Michigan last week, a report says.
Authorities said Tomas Kaan Jimenez-Guzal, 19, and Milo Sedarat were taken into custody. Records revealed Sedarat’s father appears to be Roger Sedarat, an award-winning Iranian American poet and professor.
Officials acknowledged that Jiminez-Guzal had talked about wanting to train with the Islamic State terrorist group and had planned to fly to Turkey before attempting to go to Syria.
Jiminez-Guzal had originally planned traveling in the middle of November, but allegedly moved up his timeline after a home and storage unit in Detroit connected to the plot were raided last week.
Jiminez-Guzal and Sedarat are expected to face charges.
