CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - The Cedar Rapids Police Department released an October 2025 crime statistics report Wednesday, showing improvements across multiple major categories.

The report also provides a five-year average of crimes from January 1 through October 31.

Police say there was a continued decrease in the number of vehicles stolen and the number of thefts from vehicles.

According to the release, the number of thefts from vehicles fell 27 percent over the 5-year average, while the number of vehicles stolen has dropped by 44 percent over that same period.

Police say shots fired incidents also decreased this year, with 34 reported cases. That represents a 23 percent drop from last year and a 63 percent reduction over five years.
