BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) - Law enforcement authorities said they hope to break new ground in a missing persons case from over 60 years ago.
Sgt. James Lee Haynes was last seen in December of 1963 in the Raleigh County area. He is believed to have been hitchhiking from Baltimore to visit his parents at the time of his disappearance. Law enforcement officials suspected foul play, but the trail ultimately went cold in the investigation "We were contacted by the Army back in the spring and they had done an investigation and they had asked for our help on the soldier that went missing in 1963," Raleigh County Prosecuting Attorney, Tom Truman told 59News. "This is a real long shot, but it's a long shot worth taking. You don't know what you'll find until you look for it." Law enforcement and military
