CHERRY GROVE, W.Va. –Multiple agencies are working to extinguish a wildfire in southwest Pendleton County.
The blaze was reported near Cherry Grove Wednesday afternoon. According to Pendelton County Office of Emergency Management, the blaze is mostly affecting land within the Monongahela National Forest.
Currently, flames have affected 50 acres of land and they have about 30 percent contained. Suppression efforts are being performed however have been complicated because of the steep terrain and gusty winds. Smoke may be visible in Circleville, Thornwood, and Route 28.
Crews are expected to continue building containment lines overnight.
No one has been reported injured.
