A monorail train derailed during a trial at the Wadala depot in Mumbai, on Wednesday morning. The train’s engine went off the track and was left hanging in the air. Three employees, including the train captain, were injured in the accident. The incident was so severe that the lower structure of the train was also badly damaged.
Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Limited (MMMOCL), which operates the monorail, stated that the train was empty and there were no passengers on board. According to sources, the incident occurred around 9:30 a.m. when the train was being moved from one guideway beam to another.
