The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has unveiled the 15-member squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against South Africa, marking the return of Rishabh Pant as vice-captain and wicketkeeper-batter.
Pant had been sidelined due to a fractured foot sustained during the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy in July.
Pant made a strong comeback last week, leading India A in an unofficial Test against South Africa A in Bengaluru. His 90 off 113 balls in the second innings helped secure a three-wicket win, reinforcing his readiness for the senior squad.
Pacer Akash Deep also rejoins the team after recovering from an injury that kept him out of the West Indies series. However, senior pacer Mohammed Shami, despite a solid performance in the Ranji Trophy, has not been included.
