Jammu, Nov 6 (IANS): Direct train service from Jammu to Srinagar is expected to launch by year-end, with operational and redevelopment works in Jammu division set to finish by November 30.

This will enhance rail connectivity between Kashmir and the rest of India. Currently, the Vande Bharat train runs from Katra to Kashmir. Northern Railway officials are expediting the project, which faced delays due to flash floods, but progress has resumed. Major work, including bridge construction and station redevelopment, is ongoing to facilitate this service.

Completion of these works will lead to a decision on the train’s operational start. The Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link, featuring notable engineering feats, has become crucial for all-weather connectivity and regional development.
