New Delhi, Nov 06: India’s solar photovoltaic module manufacturing capacity is expected to exceed 165 GW by March 2027, growing from around 109 GW currently, driven by strong government support, including the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) and production-linked incentives.
Annual solar capacity installations are forecasted at 45–50 GWdc, with module production reaching 60–65 GW, potentially leading to a surplus and consolidation among smaller manufacturers.
The ALMM List-II aims to boost cell manufacturing to roughly 100 GW by December 2027. However, the market faces challenges, including reliance on China for key materials and anticipated moderation in domestic OEM profitability due to competitive pressures.
