Candidate filing opened Wednesday for 2026 elections in Kentucky, and many local incumbents and challengers wasted no time submitting paperwork or announcing their intentions.

McCracken County Sheriff Ryan Norman and Graves County Sheriff Jon Hayden both announced Wednesday that they have filed to run for reelection in their respective counties.

In McCracken County, businessman Jeff Parker announced his candidacy for McCracken County Commissioner in District 2. Parker has held that position previously.

Former McCracken County jailer David Knight also announced his candidacy for McCracken County Commissioner in District 2.

In Crittenden County, candidates filing on the first day were all Republicans. They include Daryl Tabor for County Clerk, Perry Newcom for Judge-Executive, Evan Head
