PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - A cooking fire at a Peoria apartment has forced one person to be displaced.

The Peoria Fire Department was called around 11:35 p.m. Wednesday for a reported fire alarm at an apartment in the 700 block of Northeast Prosperity Street - the Providence Pointe apartments.

The building’s sprinkler system confined and extinguished the fire in the kitchen.

All occupants were safely evacuated. One person is displaced due to fire and water damage.

The department said restoration efforts are underway and residents will be able to return when repairs are complete.

Damage from fire and water is estimated at $40,000.

No one was injured.

The fire was determined to be unintentional.
