A key voting bloc that helped elect President Donald Trump is expressing doubt about life in America under his leadership and according to a new report, they're "increasingly pessimistic" about him.

Nearly two out of three Latinos say it's a "bad time to be Latino" in the U.S., according to a new Axios/Ipsos Latino poll published Thursday.

The poll was conducted Oct. 21 through Oct. 27 in partnership with Noticias Telemundo and talked to a group of 1,123 Hispanic/Latino adults ages 18 and older — 699 of those people are registered voters.

"There's not one party that is .... making them feel like they belong in the fabric of American society," said Mallory Newall, Ipsos vice president for U.S. public affairs.

Latino voters are concerned about safety as Trump's anti-immigrant rhetoric, aggressive ICE raids and deportations are worrying them about whether loved ones could be attacked or taken off the street or at work just because they are Latino. Poll respondents were also twice as likely to blame Republicans than Democrats over the government shutdown.

"There are some really clear signs that the issues that matter most to this group are not being addressed," Newall said. "It's making people's lived experience and outcome on their finances feel increasingly pessimistic."

Not only are Latinos concerned about safety, the current climate is also challenging their sense of belonging in the country, as Latinos feel less optimistic ahead of the midterm elections next year.

"The surge in Latino pessimism signals warning lights for both parties heading into 2026 and suggests many Latinos now feel politically homeless — frustrated by rising costs and unseen by either side," Axios reports.

It's challenging how many Latino voters view the "American dream."

"Only 40% say the U.S. makes them feel they belong here, down from 51% in March 2024," according to the report.
