BOSSIER CITY, La. (KSLA) - The community comes together to celebrate the service and lives of 140 veterans.

The Northwest Louisiana Veterans Home is celebrating early with a parade, honoring their residents.

“I really appreciated the Women Veterans of the ArkLaTex coming and appreciating us. I got a hug from the president of the Women’s Veterans, and it meant a lot,” says Mary Thomas. 64.

Thomas served in the Air Force as a tech sergeant for nine years during the 80s. When she was in active duty, she was assigned to California, Korea, Germany, and England. She also served in the Barkdale Reserves.

High school cheer squads, local military groups, and multiple other organizations cheered on the 140 veterans living at the home, including Kenneth Cook, a Korean War veteran.
